Unfortunately on Friday June 9, 2010 while attempting to respond to the structure fire at 410 Dietrich Avenue in Orwin, Doug Smith of the Williamstown Fire Company fell ill while in station. Resuscitation efforts at station as well as while en route to hospital were unsuccessful and Doug passed away at the Harrisburg Hospital.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to the entire Smith Family, Williamstown Fire Co., Williamstown EMS as well as to our own membership. Doug was a 25+ year member with the Muir VFC1 and will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
